I am unable to find Messier 78 in the catalogue. Can it be added as a target object? I need to observe it as part of my GCSE Astronomy coursework.
Hi nachiket1 - It is possible to observe parts of Messier 78 (M78) currently on the NSO. M78 is part of the much larger Orion Nebula complex, and is made up of 3 separate nebulae - NGC2064, NGC2067 and NGC2071. We have both NGC2064 and NGC2071 in the NSO catalogue, therefore if you search for these objects within the GCSE astronomy section you can choose which part of M78 you would like to observe.
