Part of one of the largest areas of star formation in the galaxy, the Omega Nebula looks stunning here. You may have heard of this nebula by some of its other names: Swan Nebula, Checkmark Nebula, or the Horseshoe Nebula. It is between 5,000 and 6,000 light-years from Earth and is around 15 light-years in diameter.
