Designing and Making

You may be aware that space exploration requires lots of technology, but did you know that some of that technology is used back on Earth to make people's lives better? Match the pairs to learn about the space technology in your life!

All of the light we receive on Earth comes from the Sun.

You may know that Jupiter is the largest planet in the Solar System, but do you know how much larger than the Earth it is?

Find out by creating a scale model of each planet in our Solar System!

There are 8 planets in our Solar System. And there are many thousands of planets orbiting around other stars. We call these planets exoplanets.

Astronomy is driven forward by always asking new questions. When we get to a question that we can’t answer, it usually means that we don’t have the technology, or the knowledge, to get to the bottom of the problem. This drives technology forward.

Comets are large balls of ice, rock and dust but you can think of them as large dirty snowballs that travel through the Solar System.
